Hi I am Marc, when i am not in a classroom teaching you will find me, or more likely not find me, on a boat, trekking through the woods, sitting by a river or pier hoping for tight lines or a straight shot.

I have been enjoying all aspects of being out doors since I was a child, when fishing with friends at crazy ‘o’ clock on Sunday mornings. I loved the freedom, it extended into University life and now into daily life, there is nothing like the feeling of being outside.

It became a job for over 12 years, I managed outdoor centers, forests and fishing lakes and taught children and adults how to climb, kayak, orienteer, shoot, archery, quad bike, mountaineer, fish and much more.

Some of the happiest times of my life seeing young people experience that first catch and reminding me of mine.

Now although I find myself in a classroom teaching other subjects, I still manage to sneak in some outdoor activities as often as I can for my students, and of course for me. Gone are the days of Rodeo and Surf Kayaking, but my trusty Sea yak, though more sedentary, and walking boots gets me outside as often as I am able, but not as often as I would like.

I have been lucky enough to travel, walk, paddle, climb and fish all over the world, , the Coast of Africa, Australia, all over Asia and Europe as well of course as the US. I think its time to share some of that with you all.

Feel free to browse the website and check out some of the locations, tips, gear reviews, and stories we share here. I hope they go some way to helping you jump back outdoors.

My mind belongs to my work, my heart belongs to my family, but my soul belongs to nature

ANON

We all come from the sea, but we are not all of the sea. Those of us who are, we children of the tides, must return to it again and again, until the day we don’t come back leaving behind only that which was touched along the way.
